How can I apply what I just read to my own personal life? What changes do I need to make? Is there an action that I need to take?” P (Prayer)Īs with any Bible study, there should be prayer. Read it, write it, and proclaim it!… As many times as you want! O (Observation) If we are following the SOAP method, it encourages us to start with Scripture. If it is about a concept like ‘joy’, I might write down verses that support joy.Īnother thing would be to write down cross-reference verses. If it is about a story in the Old Testament or parable, I will simply recount the happenings. How my observation of a passage evolves depends on what kind of passage I read. Observation motivates me to focus deeper on what I am reading because I know I am going to interact and record it on the page.
